How to Get Started with SignalRGB

SignalRGB is a free app that controls all your RGB hardware in one place — unifying keyboards, mice, motherboards, fans, strips, and more under one lighting engine. This guide walks you through installation, device setup, and applying your first effect.

Make sure you have:

  • A Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer
  • At least one compatible RGB device connected (keyboard, mouse, fans, strips, etc.)
  • An internet connection for downloading SignalRGB and syncing effects

Other RGB programs (like iCUE, Synapse, or Aura) can prevent SignalRGB from controlling your devices. Close or uninstall them before continuing.

SignalRGB can handle all the same customization and more. For specific uninstall steps, see Conflicting Software Issues.

  1. Download SignalRGB from signalrgb.com
  2. Run the installer
  3. SignalRGB opens automatically when installation finishes
  1. Click Sign Up when prompted
  2. Enter your email and create a password
  3. Confirm your account

A free account gives you access to the full effects library and lets you sync your settings across sessions.

SignalRGB walks you through its features and settings with helpful prompts on first launch. Follow along to get familiar with the interface.

  1. Click the Devices tab in the left sidebar
  2. Find your devices in the list
  3. Configure any RGB controllers or motherboard headers

Peripherals like keyboards and mice are detected automatically. If a device doesn’t appear, see Device Not Detected Issues.

  1. Open the Layouts Tab
  2. Arrange your devices to match your physical setup
  3. Save your layout

This lets lighting effects flow seamlessly across your entire setup. For a detailed walkthrough, see About Layouts.

  1. Open the Library page
  2. Browse or search for an effect in your library
  3. Click the play button to apply
  4. Open the Lighting page to adjust per-parameter settings to match your style

Your devices now display the selected effect with your customizations applied.

  • Start with a simple effect to confirm all your devices are working before building complex layouts (eg. Solid Color, Side to Side, etc.)
  • Keep SignalRGB updated for the latest device support and bug fixes
  • Use the Layout page to fine-tune how effects move across your setup
  • Device not showing up: Close any other RGB software, check USB connections, and restart SignalRGB. See Device Not Detected Issues.
  • Effects not displaying on fans or strips: Make sure you’ve configured your RGB controllers in the Devices page.
