How to Factory Reset SignalRGB
A factory reset clears all SignalRGB user data — layouts, effect settings, presets, and configurations — and returns the app to its default out-of-box state. Use this when you want a completely fresh start or when a corrupted configuration is causing persistent issues.
Before You Start
Section titled “Before You Start”- SignalRGB is fully closed (not just minimized to tray)
- You have backed up any configurations you want to keep
- Administrator access to your Windows account
How to Factory Reset
Section titled “How to Factory Reset”- Close SignalRGB completely by right-clicking the tray icon and selecting Quit.
- Open File Explorer.
- Navigate to
%localappdata%\VortxEngine(pressWIN + R, paste the path, press Enter). - Delete the contents of the
VortxEnginefolder — or delete the entire folder if you want to remove everything. Do not delete the folder if SignalRGB is still running. - Navigate to
%userprofile%\Documents\WhirlwindFX. - Delete the
WhirlwindFXfolder. - Launch SignalRGB. It will recreate the default folder structure and start as if installed fresh.
What Gets Reset
Section titled “What Gets Reset”- All layouts and canvas configurations
- All saved effect presets
- All macros and macro layers
- All device assignments
- Application settings (startup behavior, update channel, video settings, etc.)
- Downloaded effects are removed and will need to be reinstalled from the Library
What Is NOT Reset
Section titled “What Is NOT Reset”- Your SignalRGB account and Pro subscription (tied to your account, not local files)
- Device firmware (stored on the hardware itself)
- The SignalRGB application install (this is a data reset, not an uninstall)
After the Reset
Section titled “After the Reset”When SignalRGB launches after a factory reset, it runs through the initial setup flow. Re-add your devices, create a new layout, and reinstall any effects from the Library.
