How to Factory Reset SignalRGB

A factory reset clears all SignalRGB user data — layouts, effect settings, presets, and configurations — and returns the app to its default out-of-box state. Use this when you want a completely fresh start or when a corrupted configuration is causing persistent issues.

  • SignalRGB is fully closed (not just minimized to tray)
  • You have backed up any configurations you want to keep
  • Administrator access to your Windows account
  1. Close SignalRGB completely by right-clicking the tray icon and selecting Quit.
  2. Open File Explorer.
  3. Navigate to %localappdata%\VortxEngine (press WIN + R, paste the path, press Enter).
  4. Delete the contents of the VortxEngine folder — or delete the entire folder if you want to remove everything. Do not delete the folder if SignalRGB is still running.
  5. Navigate to %userprofile%\Documents\WhirlwindFX.
  6. Delete the WhirlwindFX folder.
  7. Launch SignalRGB. It will recreate the default folder structure and start as if installed fresh.
  • All layouts and canvas configurations
  • All saved effect presets
  • All macros and macro layers
  • All device assignments
  • Application settings (startup behavior, update channel, video settings, etc.)
  • Downloaded effects are removed and will need to be reinstalled from the Library
  • Your SignalRGB account and Pro subscription (tied to your account, not local files)
  • Device firmware (stored on the hardware itself)
  • The SignalRGB application install (this is a data reset, not an uninstall)

When SignalRGB launches after a factory reset, it runs through the initial setup flow. Re-add your devices, create a new layout, and reinstall any effects from the Library.
