How to Enable Fast Start

Fast Start is a method to make SignalRGB launch earlier in the Windows startup sequence by adding it to the Userinit registry key. This causes SignalRGB to start alongside Windows Explorer rather than waiting for the normal autostart queue, which can reduce the delay between logging in and your lighting becoming active.

  • Administrator access to your Windows account
  • SignalRGB installed
  • Know your SignalRGB version number (visible in Settings > About)
  1. Press WIN + R, type regedit, and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  2. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
  3. Find the Userinit value in the right pane and double-click it.
  4. The default value is: C:\Windows\system32\userinit.exe,
  5. Add the SignalRGB launcher path to the end of the existing value, separated by a comma: C:\Windows\system32\userinit.exe,C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\VortxEngine\SignalRgbLauncher.exe --silent, — replace USERNAME with your actual Windows username.
  6. Click OK and close the Registry Editor.
  7. Restart your PC to test.
  1. Open the Registry Editor and navigate back to the Winlogon key.
  2. Double-click the Userinit value.
  3. Remove the SignalRGB portion of the value, leaving only: C:\Windows\system32\userinit.exe,
  4. Click OK and restart your PC.
